Learning Resource Centre

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School is a centre for learners with complex needs, providing wraparound care and educational support to ensure pupils and students achieve their full potential.

Nearly all pupils in the LRC access the National Curriculum via mainstream lessons and access interventions within the LRC. Pupils with complex learning needs require highly individualised planning to enable them to better engage with their learning.

The Purpose of the LRC

  • To provide pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum that is highly differentiated in order to support them in achieving their full potential.

  • A classroom based provision within a mainstream school providing education for pupils with complex learning needs.

  • All pupils have the opportunity to be part of mainstream school lessons and to socialise with their peers whilst their individual needs are supported and met.

‘….the greatest cognitive and academic progress has been achieved by teachers who show empathetic understanding and are flexible in their teaching strategies, assessments and expectations.’ (Attwood, 2007)
